The neighborhood's exposed ridge-top streets along Stoney and Country Hills catch the full force of northwest Chinook winds, creating deep windrows on wide collectors like Country Hills Boulevard and Sarcee Trail. Open corridors along these arterials act as wind tunnels, with corner lots facing these roads seeing 2–3× deeper drifts than interior streets.

The shallow coulee depressions near Citadel Drive, Citadel Way, and Citadel Park create a distinct refreeze hazard. Rapid Chinook thaws send meltwater pooling along low-lying pathways, which freeze into sheet ice overnight. North-facing driveways – common on east-west streets along the northern and southern boundaries – stay in shadow for 6–8 hours in winter, creating persistent black-ice patches that don't melt until late afternoon. We plan extra time for these shaded zones and bring targeted de-icing equipment to handle the plateau's unique freeze-thaw cycle.
