The neighborhood's exposed ridge-top streets along Crowchild and Stoney catch the full force of northwest Chinook winds, creating deep windrows on wide collectors like Scenic Acres Drive and Scurfield Drive. Open corridors along these arterials act as wind tunnels, with corner lots facing these roads seeing 2–3× deeper drifts than interior streets.

The shallow coulee depressions near Scurfield Drive, Scenic Glen Crescent, and Nose Hill Park create a distinct refreeze hazard. Rapid Chinook thaws send meltwater pooling along low-lying pathways, which freeze into sheet ice overnight. North-facing driveways – common on east-west streets along the northern and southern boundaries – stay in shadow for 6–8 hours in winter, creating persistent black-ice patches that don't melt until late afternoon. We plan extra time for these shaded zones and bring targeted de-icing equipment to handle the Nose Hill slopes' unique freeze-thaw cycle.
