The neighborhood's exposed ridge-top streets along 17 Avenue and 69 Street catch the full force of northwest Chinook winds, creating deep windrows on wide collectors like 17 Avenue SW, 69 Street SW, and Stoney Trail. Open corridors along these arterials act as wind tunnels, with corner lots facing these roads seeing 2–3× deeper drifts than interior streets.

The escarpment-side streets near the Elbow River and shallow coulee depressions along 85 Street, Springbank Boulevard, and Springbank Park create a distinct refreeze hazard. Rapid Chinook thaws send meltwater pooling along steep slopes, which freeze into sheet ice overnight. North-facing driveways – common on east-west streets along the northern and southern boundaries – stay in shadow for 6–8 hours in winter, creating persistent black-ice patches that don't melt until late afternoon. We plan extra time for these shaded zones and bring targeted de-icing equipment to handle the Elbow River valley's unique freeze-thaw cycle.
