Open corridors along these arterials act as wind tunnels, with corner lots facing these roads seeing 2–3× deeper drifts than interior streets.

The escarpment-side streets near Springbank Hill and shallow coulee depressions along Aspen Hills Drive, Aspen Stone Boulevard, and Aspen Woods Lake create a distinct refreeze hazard. Rapid Chinook thaws send meltwater pooling along storm-drain ponds, which freeze into sheet ice overnight. North-facing driveways – common on east-west streets along the northern and southern boundaries – stay in shadow for 6–8 hours in winter, creating persistent black-ice patches that don't melt until late afternoon. We plan extra time for these shaded zones and bring targeted de-icing equipment to handle the Signal Hill slopes' unique freeze-thaw cycle.
