Legacy sits on a gently sloping plateau at 1,005 metres elevation, an award-winning master-planned community at Calgary's southeastern edge. The neighborhood's exposed ridge-top streets along Macleod Trail and 210th Avenue catch the full force of northwest Chinook winds, creating deep windrows on wide collectors like Macleod Trail, 210th Avenue SE, and Legacy Boulevard. Open corridors along these arterials act as wind tunnels, with corner lots facing these roads seeing 2–3× deeper drifts than interior streets.

The Bow River Valley and wetland systems create a distinct refreeze hazard. Rapid Chinook thaws send meltwater pooling along low-lying pathways near the river valley, freezing into sheet ice overnight on adjacent sidewalks and driveway aprons. North-facing driveways – common on east-west streets along the northern and southern boundaries – stay in shadow for 6–8 hours in winter, creating persistent black-ice patches that don't melt until late afternoon. We plan extra time for these shaded zones and bring targeted de-icing equipment to handle the river valley's unique freeze-thaw cycle.
